Unlike conventional wax carving, Mitsuro Hikime wax is softened with the warmth of the hands, then stretched, folded, twisted, and shaped to create expressive textures reminiscent of flowing water, fabric, or organic natural forms. Because the wax responds directly to movement and touch, every design develops its own distinctive character.
During this four-hour, hands-on small-group workshop, participants will learn how to prepare, manipulate, join, and refine Mitsuro Hikime wax while receiving personalized guidance from an experienced instructor. Each student will create an original wax jewelry model—such as a ring, pendant, or sculptural form—that can be prepared for lost-wax casting and transformed into a finished metal design.
By the end of the workshop, participants will understand the foundations of this specialized technique and have the confidence to continue developing their own one-of-a-kind Mitsuro Hikime jewelry.
