Introduction to Jewelry Enameling (2) Sessions
This Enameling workshop will cover the history of enameling and review all its different and special techniques. Examples of all types of enameling will be viewed and discussed: Limoges, Basse-Taille, Cloinsonné, Champlevé, Grisaille, Plique-à-jour.
We will start our session with the basic method: Limoges. This technique is the basis for all others. Enamel is applied in either a wet application or dry. Both have their assets. The base metal ( we will be using copper) can be coated with any combination of flux, transparent or opaque enamels. So many variations can be achieved, and we will try them all. All sorts of other materials can be applied for other effects. A supply list will be sent prior to the class.
